Jimten, S.A. was founded in 1965 by J. and M. Ten (JIMTEN), two brothers who owned a plumbing business, with the idea of replacing the lead traps of the period with others made of plastic materials which were cheaper, easier to install and had better characteristics.
The quality and excellence of the design of the drainage products meant that, at the beginning of the 80s, production was diversified into products made of plastic materials for the piping of fluids under pressure. In 1980 the compression accessories range for polyethylene pipes (Gama í55) was launched; this was the first range in Spain to achieve the ďNĒ certificate from AENOR, and it was followed immediately by the range of PVC globe valves.
The change of site in 1990, although still in the Alicante (Spain) area, encouraged the introduction of a series of productive investments that confirmed Jimtenís position at the forefront of the industry.
In the 90s, Jimten began to develop its export markets, as well as to diversify into new product ranges, both for construction and industry.
Currently, 25% of its turnover comes from export markets and its catalogue of products includes more than eleven thousand different reference numbers grouped into more than fifteen different product families; it is, unarguably, the leader in all the distribution sectors.
